From NYU Athletics
Sophomore John Cramerus of the New York University
men's fencing team was selected University Athletic Association
(UAA) Athlete of the Week on Monday, February 16, and Eastern
College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Men's Fencer of the Week on
Wednesday, February 18.
Camerus won the bronze medal in Junior Men's Epee at the Junior
Olympic Fencing Championships on Friday, February 13, in Richmond,
VA.
Cramerus won all six of his bouts in Pool #1. He then won six
more to advance to the semifinals where he lost his first (and
only) bout of the day to Samuel Blackwood by a score of
15-9.
"This was a tremendous result, the first time John has ever
medaled," said NYU Head Coach Steve Mormando. "This is really
something to brag about."
This is Cramerus' first career honor from the UAA and the
ECAC.
