10 NYU Men Slated to Compete at NCAA Regional Championships on Sunday

From NYU Athletics

Ten members of New York University's men's fencing team will travel to Yale University in New Haven, CT, to participate in this year's NCAA Division III Regional Championships on Sunday, March 12.

Fencing for the Violets in epee will be Hans Engel, William Zhang and Alexandre Crepeaux. In foil, it will be Daniel Sconzo, Philip Shin and Sean Grant. Representing NYU in sabre will be Quinten Burgunder, Grant Williams, Mickey Bak, and Matt Chen.

All five of NYU's NCAA National Championship Qualifiers from last year (Engel, Sconzo, Shin, Williams, and Bak), look to return to Nationals in Indianapolis, IN, beginning on Thursday, March 23. This year, Engel, Sconzo, Burgunder, and Williams are currently ranked among the top eight seeds in their respective weapons, which would allow them to qualify if the standings hold.

The Violets posted an 18-8 match record this season, ending on a six-match winning streak. Currently ranked #10 overall by CF360 as of February 10.
