NYU Competes at Philadelphia Invitational

The New York University men's fencing team defeated all but one of its opponents on the opening day of competition at the Philadelphia Invitational, a two-day event being hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday and Sunday, January 20 and 21, in Philadelphia, PA.

The Short Story: NYU finished the day with an 4-1 record. The Violets picked up wins over the University of North Carolina, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Johns Hopkins University, and Drew University, while falling only to Duke University. NYU's record now stands at 8-5 this season.

"Grant Williams and Mickey Bak were very strong. Many of our fencers had terrific performances," said Head Coach Steve Mormando. "And, it was a good win against NJIT, a team that had beaten us earlier this season."
