NYU Ranked #10 in the Nation; Violets Only Division III Team in Poll

From NYU Athletics

The New York University men's fencing team is currently ranked #10 in the nation by collegefencing360.com in the latest poll issued on February 9.

Although NYU's varsity sports teams are Division III programs, NCAA Fencing combines all three divisions which compete for a single championship. Of the top 10 ranked teams, NYU is the only Division III program on the list.

University Athletic Association (UAA) foe Brandeis University and local-area rival Stevens Institute of Technology are the the only Division III teams to be recognized by collegefencing360.com. Both of those schools are "receiving votes" in the poll.

Top-ranked Harvard University barely defeated the Violets, 14-13, on February 4 in Cambridge, MA, while NYU posted a 17-10 victory over #4 Columbia University on January 21.

Currently ranked just below NYU in the "receiving votes" category are Stanford University and Yale University.

NYU's strong ranking comes after the squad swept six opponents at the Eric Sollee Invitational on February 3 in Waltham, MA.
