Zohaib Mannan & Mickey Bak Earn Sixth-Place Finishes as NYU Competes at NCAA Regional

The New York University men's fencing team competed in the NCAA Regional Championship in Poughkeepsie, NY, on Sunday, March 10. The event was held at Vassar College, but hosted by Columbia University. 

The foil team led the way for the Violets as Zohaib Mannan took sixth out of 33 competitors, while Kyle Welch secured 10th place. 

Mickey Bak, who had 12 wins through three rounds, placed sixth in sabre. 

Out of 42 epee fencers, the largest field, Liam Carpenter and Samuel Bekker finished 11th and 13th, respectively.

A maximum of six fencers from each school are able to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be held on Thursday-Sunday, March 21-24., Sunday's regional competition is one factor in the consideration process. The official announcement on qualifiers should come early this week.
