On Sunday, February 3, the New York University men's fencing team competed in the Eric Sollee Invitational, hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in Cambridge, MA.

The Violets went a perfect 5-0, defeating Brown University (18-9), MIT (22-5), Haverford College (21-6), Brandeis University (21-6), and Boston College (18-9).

The team produced outstanding performances in all three weapons.

Zohaib Mannan led the foil team with 10 victories and only a lone loss. Eric Zobel (9-3) and Kyle Welch (8-2) also had successful competitions in the weapon.

In epee, Ian Sanders went 10-2 and Liam Carpenter posted a 9-3 record.

Mickey Bak (10-3), Matt Chen (9-2) and Bryan Moise (9-4) each were stalwarts for the sabre team.

"We started off hot today and never went cold, contributing to our best day of the year," said Head Coach Steve Mormando. "Outstanding fencing by Zohaib, Kyke and Eric in foil, and by our sophomore Ian and new freshman Liam in epee."
