From August 18 through 22, Brandeis fencers traveled to Singapore, along with fencers from other elite programs like Cornell, Notre Dame, Penn State, Princeton and Columbia to take on fencers from Singapore and China for three days of competition.

Five senior represented the Judges: Jessica Gets (foil), Hannah Mui (foil), Charlie Catino (sabre), Sam Chestna (foil) and Chris Armstrong (epee).

In the individual competition of the first day of action, Sam Chestna and Jessica Gets both made the top 8, while Chris Armstrong and Charlie Catino each placed 9th, impressive showings for the only Division III fencers present.

The second day featured team events. A 30-touch round-robin event with a fencer from each weapon and gender contributing a 5-touch bout. The team of Jess, Chris, Sam and Charlie along with Dylan Kim and Dolly Lampson from Princeton and Daniella Timifoyev and Leeann Choy from Columbia places second. Hannah Mui‘s team placed third out of seven teams.

"It was great to see all our fencers earn medals and build lasting friendships," said head coach Jennie Salmon.
