The New York University men's golf team placed first in the rain-shortened Hamilton College Fall Invitational on Sunday, October 6, at the Valley View Golf Course in Utica, NY. Play was brought to a halt early Sunday morning, and eventually cancelled due to poor weather conditions.
The Violets rode their first-round score of 295 to a first-place finish after the second round of play was cancelled. They topped both host Hamilton and St. Lawrence University by one stroke.
In addition, senior tri-captain Kyle Demshki shot a first-round 69 (2-under) to tie for the tournament title along with Jack Whelan of St. Lawrence.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior tri-captain Tim Lau and junior Matthew Gjonaj tied for 14th. Each shot a first-round 75 (four-over).
- Freshman Owen Lin shot a five-over first-round 76 to tie for 22nd.
- Junior Charles Van Cook finished the invitational tied for 41st after shooting a first-round 82.
- Seniors Cody Ball (80, tied for 36th) and tri-captain Dillon Emry (81, 40th) competed as individuals.
