From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics
At the final day of the Edward Jones Shootout Sunday, April 13,
the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team shot a 301 on day
two to place third. The Tartans ended the 36-hole event with
a team score of 599. Allegheny won the two-day event that was
held at the par-70, The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pa. with a
team score of 591.
Oliver White from Allegheny College defended his individual
medalist honor as he carded a 36-hole score of 140 (69-71). Behind
Allegheny in the standings was Saint Vincent with a 592 followed by
the Tartans.
The Tartans were led by senior Ian Bangor (Moon Township,
Pa./Sewickley Academy). Bangor improved four strokes on
Sunday from his opening round as he carded a one-over par 71 to
finish the Shootout with a 146, placing third individually.
Freshman George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy)
finished the tournament tied for eighth-place with a 150
(75-75).
Junior Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward)
carded a 151 (73-78) while sophomore Ben
DuCarme (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan) was a stroke behind
with a 152 (75-77). Freshman Bradley Jennette (Pittsford,
N.Y./Sutherland) ended the two-day event with a 167 (83-84).
The Tartans entered a 'B' Team into the Shootout, while all members
will be listed as individuals, the team fired a 36-hole score of
618 (307-311). Freshman Ryan Karbowicz (Avon,
Conn.) led the squad with a 150 (72-78) followed by
freshman Jordan Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) with a 151
(79-72). Junior Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) fired
back-to-back rounds of 77 to finish with a 154. Senior Jisoo
Park (Dix Hills, N.Y./Pendleton School) and junior Derek
Cobb (Urbana, Ohio) rounded out the team scoring with a 164
(79-85) and 170 (86-84), respectively.
