The Emory men's golf team came through with a strong second-round performance on Monday that enabled it to take home first place at the University Athletic Association Championships.  The 36-hole event was played at the 6,768-yard, par-72 RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Florida.

The Eagles fired a 288 on the second day of action to finish the Championships at 582.  Emory finished nine shots ahead of Rochester (300-291--591) while Carnegie Mellon (302-293—595) held down third place.  Rounding out the group was New York University at 615 (308-307).

Junior Alex Wunderlich tied for second at 144 (71-73) with senior Johnathan Chen placed fifth on the leaderboard at 145 (72-73).  Hipp, Wunderlich and Chen all earned First Team All-UAA honors.  In addition, Hipp was tabbed as the UAA Rookie of the Year.  Senior Will Roth shaved nine strokes off his opening round and carded a 71 on Monday that gave him a two-day total of 151, good for a 10th place tie and Second Team All-UAA honors.  Senior Alec Berens closed out the squad's scorers with a 153 (79-74).    Freshman Sam Nichamin, competing as an individual, shot a 154 (77-77).
