From Carnegie Mellon University Athletics
The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the
first day of the annual Allegheny College Guy W. Kuhn Memorial
Invitational hosted at the par 72 Country Club of Meadville by
Allegheny College. The Tartans are tied for fourth place following
day one of action after carding a team score of 308.
Washington & Jefferson sits atop the leader board with a 298
followed by the host Gators with a 304. Saint Vincent is three
strokes behind Allegheny with a 307 while Division II Gannon is
tied with the Tartans in fourth after entering the clubhouse with a
308.
The Tartans were led by sophomores George
Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) and Jordan
Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) who both carded rounds of
three-over 75 and are currently tied for ninth out of a field of 77
after 18-holes. After carding a five-over 41 on the front nine,
Qian improved seven strokes on the back nine shooting two-under 34.
Senior Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) shot a 77 followed
by senior Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) with
an 81. Fischler like Qian improved seven strokes on the back nine
firing a one-under 35 after starting six-over after nine
holes. Freshman Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore,
India/Canadian International School) shot an 85 to finish out the
Tartans team scoring.
Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the invitational, as
sophomore Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./Sutherland) had
a round of 80.
