Emory Men's Golf Looks To Defend UAA Title

From Emory University Athletics

The Emory University golf team returns to action on Sunday and Monday (Mar. 8-9) when it competes at the University Athletic Association Championships. This year's 36-hole event will be held at the 6,768-yard, par 72 RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Florida.

Joining Emory in the Championship will be Carnegie Mellon, New York University and the University of Rochester.

Emory enters this year's event looking to defend its league crown after finishing nine strokes ahead of runner-up Rochester in last season's Championships. Current Eagle Alex Wunderlich (Ann Arbor, MI) finished tied for second on the individual leader board to earn First Team All-UAA honors.

Competing for Emory in this year's event will be Wunderlich, freshman Keenan Hickton (Pittsburgh, PA), sophomore Sam Nichamin (Brookville, PA), junior Jonathan Gerrard (Highland Park, IL) and junior Vince Sirianni (Blue Bell, PA).  Junior Jack Williams (Garden City, NY) will compete as an individual.

Emory enters the UAA Championships with 15 conference titles to its credit, two coming under fourth-year head coach John Sjoberg's direction.

In Emory's last outing, it tied for ninth place out of 19 teams at the Callaway Gardens Collegiate Invitational (Feb. 28- Mar. 1) in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
