The Emory golf team completed its participation at the Wolfpack Spring Open on Sunday. The 36-hole tourney was held at the 7,284-yard, par-71 Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Spring Open was Emory's last outing of the regular season.
The Eagles finished in 10th place, shooting a final score of 603 (301-302). Host North Carolina State captured team honors with an effort of 551 (276-275), well ahead of runner-up Maryland's score of 568 (284-284). NCAA Division II member Francis Marion turned in a third-place performance at 576 (292-284). Emory was the lone Division III institution competing in the 11-team field.
Senior Alex Wunderlich turned in Emory's best score of the tournament at 145 (71-74), good for a 22nd-place tie in the 77-player field. Sophomore Sam Nichamin was the next Eagle to show up on the leader board with his 150 (74-76) tying for 41st place. Freshmen Matt Csillag (78-74--152) and Keenan Hickton (78-79--157) were the next two Eagles'scorers while junior Vince Sirianni checked in at 160 (82-78).
David Cooke of North Carolina State claimed medalist honors with a blistering 10-under par 132 (67-65).
