NYU Finishes Second at ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Championship

From NYU Athletics

New York University's men's golf team was the runner-up at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Mid-Atlantic Championship, which was held on Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5, at the Blue Heron Hills Golf Club in Macedon, NY.

The Violets (619) shot 314 on day one and 305 on day two, finishing the tournament in second of 11 competing teams. The squad trailed competition-winner St. John Fisher College (581) by 38 strokes.

Paul Park (151) was NYU's lowest overall scorer, shooting 77 on day one and 74 on day two to finish in seventh place.

"We had a better day today," Head Coach Todd Kolean said. "We learned the course much better yesterday, so we had an easier time today. St. John Fisher knows the course backwards and forwards, so I'm really happy with the way we played. The weather was still cold and ugly today. Paul played really well, and being from Southern California, he still handled the course really well. Chris Nolte also had a very good day."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Co-captain Kevin Chien tied for ninth place after shooting 154 overall (77-77).

Daniel Lynch and Christopher Nolte each shot 156 overall, tying for 15th place.

- Co-captain Matthew Gjonaj (159) and Hartej Gill (160), tied for 21st and 25th, respectively.
