From NYU Athletics
New York University's men's golf team is currently in
first place (297) after day one of the St. Lawrence Invitational,
which was held on Saturday, September 6, in Canton, NY.
Host St. Lawrence University follows NYU in second place by
four strokes (301) in the 11-team competition.
NYU freshman Paul
Park recorded the team's lowest score, finishing
day one in second place after shooting a one-over-par 73. Fellow
freshmen Hartej
Gill and Daniel
Lynch tied for third after shooting 74
each.
"It was a very good day. Our freshmen were truly
outstanding. Paul Park, Hartej
Gill, andDaniel Lynch were instrumental in us
taking the lead," said Head Coach Todd Kolean. "We
still felt like we missed some shots out there and hope not to make
those little mistakes tomorrow. Today has been a really big step
for us."
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior co-captain Matthew
Gjonaj finished day one of competition tied for
12th place. He shot a four-over 76.
- Senior co-captains Charles Van
Cook and Kevin
Chien tied for 32nd place, each shooting
81.
