NYU Stands Ninth at Williams Invitational

The New York University men's golf team is in ninth place after the first round of competition at the Williams Invitational, which is being held at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, MA, on Saturday and Sunday, September 20-21.

Nineteen teams are competing over the par-71 course.

The Violets totaled 309 and trail first-place Williams College by only 12 strokes.

Team co-captain Matthew Gjonaj is the Violets' low scored, having carded a round of 75.

"Matt had a great day today on a very difficult course," Head Coach Todd Kolean said.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Paul Park was NYU's econd-low scorer (76)

Hartej Gill was the Violets' third low scorer (78), while Christopher Nolte shot the same as an individual.

- The teams' final scorer was Daniel Lynch (80)  

"Williams plays this course every day, and they will always have 'that' guy who shoots 70-72," Kolean added. "We didn't have 'that' guy today, but we played decent and didn't shoot ourselves out of this thing."
