It was another balanced effort from the University of Rochester

Yellowjackets carded a team score of 295 to hold a two stroke lead
after the first round of competition at Ravenwood G.C.
UR's scores from its five golfers were 73, 73, 74, 75 and 77 with
an additional individual carding a 78. Rochester, the
defending Liberty League champions, holds a two stroke lead over
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (297) in the team scoring.
NYU sits in 3rd place with a 301 and Skidmore is one shot back in
4th at 302.
The 'Jackets were paced by junior captain Dominick Schumacher and
freshman Luis Arteaga who ended with 1-over rounds of 73 to tie for
2nd place. Schumacher had a strong day, firing 15 pars, one
birdie and two bogeys. Arteaga countered with four birdies
and five bogeys for his round.
Sophomore Jona Scott shot a 74 in his second round, tying for the
team lead with four birdies on his round. Classmate Matt van
Niekerk also had four birdies in his round and ended with a 75 on

The top four teams after Sunday's 2nd day will earn a berth into
the Spring Championships where the conference's automatic qualifier
into the NCAA tournament will be decided. The winner of the
Fall Qualifier earns the right to host the spring
competition. Also, the top four individuals from the
non-advancing teams also will qualify for the spring championships
where the All-League team will be decided.
Last season, Rochester swept both the fall and spring match play
tournaments to earn its first NCAA tournament berth since 2005.
