Rochester Finishes 5th At Tightly Contested NYU Tournament

The University of Rochester golf team finished in 5th place of 13 teams at a very tightly contested NYU/Manhattanville Invitational on Sunday at the Forest Hill Field Club.
 
The Yellowjackets improved their team score during Sunday's final round by four strokes, but dropped three spots to fifth place overall.  UR finished just three strokes out of a playoff that featured Williams College and RPI.  Both schools had a team score of 617 with Williams capturing the title in the playoff.  Skidmore and Middlebury finished tied for 3rd with 619's while Rochester finished with a two day total of 620.
 
UR's 2nd day score was 308 and featured four scorers in the 70s.  Junior G.W. VanderZwaag carded a final round 75 (+4) to finish in a tie for 9th overall with a total score of 153.  Classmate Dominick Schumacher was Rochester's highest finisher, placing in a tie for 7th after he carded a final round 78 (+7) for a two round score of 152.
 
Sophomore Garrett Sweeney shot a 76 on day two and finished with a two day score of 154 for a T12 finish.  Sophomore Jona Scott was the fourth golfer under 80 for UR on Sunday, carding a 79 (+8).  He ended in a tie for 35th after a two day total of 161.
 
Rochester's 5th golfer was Luis Arteaga who shot 82 in the final round.  The Yellowjackets two individuals, Jason Paek and Corey Mitchener, each finished in a tie for 44th place with two day scores of 164.
