Rochester Is Two Back After Day One of Manhattanville/NYU Tournament

The University of Rochester golf team sits just two strokes behind round one leader Middlebury after day one of the Manhattanville/NYU Spring Invitational at the Forest Hills Field Club.
 
The Yellowjackets carded an opening round score of 312 (+28) to sit in 2nd place of 13 teams.  Middlebury is in first place with a 310 first round while Liberty League rivals Skidmore (3rd, 313) and RPI (T-4th, 315) sit right behind UR.
 
Junior Dominick Schumacher leads Rochester with a 1st round score of +3 (74) to sit in a tie for 2nd place overall.  His round featured three birdies and six bogeys.
 
Sophomore Garrett Sweeney and junior G.W. VanderZwaag each carded opening round 78's (+7) to sit tied for 10th while sophomore Jona Scott rounded out UR's top-4 scorers with an 82 (+11) on Saturday.  Sweeney recorded a team high four birdies on his round.
 
Freshman Luis Arteaga completed UR's starting five lineup with an 87 on Saturday.  Rochester also has two individuals competing in the event.  Corey Mitchener shot an 84 and Jason Paek carded an 82.
