Emory Finishes Third At Al Jones Memorial

The Emory golf team closed out a strong performance at the Al Jones Memorial on Tuesday, posting a third-place finish out of eight squads.  The 36-hole event was played at the 6,945-yard, par-71 Eagles Bluff Country Club in Bullard, Texas.

The Eagles registered a final-day score of 306 and concluded action with a two-round score of 612.  No. 10-ranked and host UT-Tyler claimed first place with a 598 (298-300), six shots ahead of Concordia University (TX). No. 24 Cal Lutheran was fourth with a 620 while No. 22 Mary Hardin-Baylor rounded out the top five finishers at 622.

Senior Johnathan Gerrard (Highland Park, IL) wound up Emory's No. 1 performer, carding an eight-over par 150 (73-77) that tied for eighth place on the leader board out of 44 players. Junior Colby Hipp (Chatsworth, GA) posted back-to-back rounds of 76 en route to finishing with a 152, good for a 10th-place showing. 

Sophomore Keenan Hickton(Pittsburgh, PA) fired a 73 on the final day of action, seven strokes better from his opening round and tying for the second-best mark in the field on Tuesday, and totaled a final score of 153, tying for the No. 12 spot. Rounding out the team's competitors were freshmen Connor Yakubov (77-80—157) and Stefano Butti (81-80—161).
