Emory Concludes First Round At Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate

The Emory University golf team completed its first round of action at the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate on Monday. The 36-hole tourney is being played played on the 7,016-yard, par-72 Mountain View Golf Course in Pine Mountain, Ga.

The Eagles stand 13th out of 17 teams after the first day of play, registering a team score of 314. No. 12-ranked Huntingdon holds down the top spot at 289 while Greensboro is just two strokes off the pace. No. 4-ranked Oglethorpe stands third (293) with No. 1 Methodist (299) and No. 2 Berry (302) rounding out the top five.

Freshman Stefano Butti (Palm City, FL) turned in Emory's best score of the day with his two-over par 74 tying for 14th place in the 96-player field.  Freshman Connor Yakubov was the next Emory player to appear on the leader board at 77, tying for 35th place. Rounding out the team's competitors were Keenan Hickton (79), Anthony Muscato (84) and Noah Apter (84).

Oglethorpe's David Kleckner and Huntingdon College's Will Thrash both fired the best individual scores of the day at three-under par 69.
