Emory Stands Fourth After Second Round At Jekyll Island Invitational

The Emory University golf team turned in another solid round of action on the second day of competition at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational and stands fourth out of 30 teams.   The 54-hole tourney is being played played on the 6,700-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island.

The Eagles came through with their second-straight effort of even-par 288 on Saturday, giving them a 36-hole score of 576.  Leading the field is No. 9-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 570 (290-280).  Christopher Newport stands second with a 574 (287-287) while No. 16 LaGrange College is third at 575 (286-289).  

Freshman Anthony Muscato paced the Emory contingent on Saturday, firing a three-under par 69. Sophomore Keenan Hickton posted an even-par 72while freshman Stefano Butti each carded a 73.  Sophomore Connor Yakubov and freshman Noah Apter each finished with 74s.

After two rounds of play, Hickton has shot a one-under 143, good for a 17th-place tie in the 150-player field.  Butti stands at even-par 144, 22nd on the leaderboard, while Yakubov (146, 35th place), Apter (148) and Muscato (151) round out the Eagle competitors.
