The Emory golf team closed out the regular-season portion of its schedule over the weekend at the Navy Spring Invitational.  The 36-hole event was played at the 6,611-yard, par-71, Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Maryland.

The Eagles finished in eighth place out of ten teams, ending the tourney with a score of 608 (302-306).   Navy captured first place with a mark of 570 (285-285) while Methodist University claimed runner-up status at 578 (285-293).  St. John's was third (294-286—580) and Wagner College fourth (292-298—590).

Freshman Connor Yakubov highlighted the Emory contingent with a showing of 141 (68-73), good for second place in the 60-player field.  Yakubov's score represented the 10th-best score ever by an Eagle for a 36-hole tournament, with his opening-day effort tying the sixth-best round by an Emory in program history.  Freshman Stefano Butti was the next Emory player to appear on the leader board at 154 (76-78), placing him in a tie for the 38th spot.  Rounding out the team's representatives were sophomore Keenan Hickton (78-77—155), freshman Anthony Muscato (81-78—159) and freshman Noah Apter (80-84—164).

Emory, ranked 12th in the Division III ranks, is hopeful that it will advance to the NCAA Championships when the bids are announced next Monday (May 2).
