Emory Finishes Sixth At O'Briant-Jensen Memorial

The Emory golf team closed out the fall portion of its schedule with a sixth-place finish out of 18 teams at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament.  The 36-hole tourney was held on the 6,819-yard, par-71 Sedgefield Country Club Dye Course in Greensboro, NC.

Emory recorded a Tuesday score of 319, giving it two-round mark of 635.  No. 17 Huntingdon took home the top spot with a 606 (302-304) while No. 3 Wittenberg was runner-up at 612 (307-305).  Rounding out the top five were No. 12 Guilford (311-302—613), No. 1 Methodist (316-311—627) and Greensboro (312—317—629).

Emory freshman Connor Yakubov concluded the tournament tied for fifth place in the 96-player field, shooting a second-round 78 that left him at 152.  Junior Sam Nichamin finished second among the Eagles' contingent and tied for 34th place overall with a 160 (81-79).  Sophomore Keenan Hickton made the team's biggest second-day improvement, chopping five strokes from his opening round to post a 78, 161 for the tournament which tied for 41st.  Junior Colby Hipp closed out the team's second-round scoring efforts, carding an 84 that gave him a 162 for his two days of work.  Luke Lancaster also competed and finished with a 171 (84-87).    Freshman Stefano Butti, playing as an individual closed out with a 156 (79-77), deadlocking for 19th place. 

Addison Lambeth of Huntingdon College captured medalist honors with a one-over par 143 (68-75), six shots better than Garrett Brickley of Wittenberg.
