The Emory golf team concluded the opening round of play at the Oglethorpe Fall Invitational on Monday.  The 36-hole tourney is being contested on the 6,792-yard, par-72 Royal Lakes Golf Club in nearby Flowery Branch.

Emory posted a first-round score of 306, placing it 12th in the 16-team field.  Holding down the top spot after the first 18 holes of action is Spalding University at one-under par 287. Freshman Connor Yakubov led the Emory team effort, firing a solid even-par 72 that ties him for eighth place out of 93 players.  Sophomore Keenan Hickton stands tied for 22nd following his two-over par 74. Rounding out the Eagle scorers were junior Sam Nichamin and freshman Noah Apter, both of whom carded an 80.  Junior Colby Hipp is among the team's contingent and finished at 83.

Emory has two players competing as individuals, freshman Anthony Muscato who checked in with a 73, good for a 15th-place tie on the leader board, and junior Luke Lancaster who registered an 82.

Jonathon Gandia of Spalding and Nicholas McCarthy paced all players on Monday with scores of 68.
