Emory Concludes First Round At Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Fifth Place

The Emory University golf team completed its first round of action at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate on Monday. The 36-hole tourney is being played played on the 6,979-yard, par-72 Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama. 

The Eagles are tied with Faulkner University for fifth place out of 12 teams, with each squad shooting a 301. Holding down the No. 1 spot is No. 6-ranked and host Huntingdon College at 294 while Piedmont College is two shots off the pace at 296. No. 19 Mary Hardin-Baylor stands third with a 299 and Washington & Lee is fourth at 300.

Freshman Stefano Butti turned in Emory's best mark of the day with an even-par 72, good for a fifth-place tie in the 63-player field. Freshmen Connor Yakubov and Anthony Muscato each shot 74, tying them for 12th on the leader board. Sophomore Keenan Hickton and freshman Noah Apter rounded out the team's contingent at 81. Senior Jonathan Gerrard, playing as an individual, carded a 79.
