Kristin Lee Leads NYU to Fourth Place in Amherst

The New York University women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Jack Leaman Invitational, which was held at the Hickory Ridge Golf Club in Amherst, MA, after completing round two on Sunday, April 17.

Sophomore Kristin Lee, who entered the round in seventh place, surged up the player's leaderboard to capture second place. The Irvine, CA, native shot a two-under-par 72 on Sunday and 154 overall. 

"Kristin played terrifically well today!" exclaimed Assistant Coach Meaghan Kenny. "This is a par 74 course, and she managed to shoot 2-under. That was just a tremendous improvement from yesterday." 

Freshmen Jenni Bluetling and Catherina Li proved to be the formidable duo on Sunday by both tying for eighth place. They shot 82 and 77, respectively, on Sunday, and 164 overall.

"Catherina played really well today," Kenny said. "I am really pleased with how we played in general, considering we couldn't drop a score. Everyone, including the individuals, had great rounds today. With this weekend's showing, I'm really looking forward to the Liberty League Championship next weekend." 

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Leading the indivuals' pack for the tournament, junior Mikaela Santos tied for 18th with an overall score of 166.

- Sophomore Phoebe Zhao shot 172 to place 25th. 

- Fellow classmate Rose Freidman finished in 38th with a score of 182 after improving by three strokes on Sunday.
