New York University's men's golf team placed fifth at the Williams College Invitational, which was held on Saturday and Sunday, September 12-13, at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, MA.
The Violets finished the competition in fifth place out of 18 teams after shooting 616 overall. NYU finished 115 strokes behind competition-winner Trinity College (601).**
Sophomore Paul Park shot 71 during the second round, finishing the competition with a score of 144 to tie for second place.
"It was a little disappointing today. We thought we would have a pretty good run after yesterday, We didn't play poorly, but we just had a few blow-up holes," said Head Coach Todd Kolean. "On hole 13 over the two-day period we probably shot 17 over-par. We ended up playing that hole poorly and we got double, triple and quadruple bogies on a couple of others, which hurt our score each day."
**Note: Williams College (B) and Williams College (C) do not count in the overall team standings.
HIGHLIGHTS:

"Park played really, really well today and made a run at winning the tournament. Oppenheimer had a solid weekend overall, and Tarakjian - at his first college tournament - probably ended up with the second-lowest total score of our team," added Kolean. "We showed signs of what we are yesterday, and I expect that going forward, that is more indicitiove of how we will play."
