With four golfers breaking 80 on day two of the Jekyll Island Invitational, the UR men's golf team sits in 16th place of 30 teams after 36-holes at one of the premier Division III golf tournaments taking place this season.

Rochester posted a second round score of 300, aided by junior Jona Scott's second straight under-par round.  After two rounds, Rochester has a combined score of 590. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps had a phenomenal -8 round of 280 on Saturday and holds a four stroke lead over Christopher Newport in the team standings.  LaGrange College is 3rd while Emory and Huntingdon College are 4th and 5th respectively.
 
Scott posted his second straight round in the red, shooting a -2 score of 70 on Saturday.  His round featured four birdies and two bogeys and has the junior in the top-10 on the individual player leaderboard with a two-day score of 141.
 
Sophomore Jason Paek carded a second round score of 75 (+3) and is tied with teammate Daniel Luftspring (76, +4) after two rounds of play, with both totaling 148.  Paek's Saturday round was solid and featured one birdie, four bogeys and 13 pars, including nine straight on his inward nine.  Both Paek and Luftspring are in a tie for 59th place after 36-holes.
 
UR's fourth scorer on Saturday was senior G.W. VanderZwaag who ended with a second round 79 (+7).  Fellow senior Dominick Schumacher carded a round of 81 (+9) on the second day of play at the Pine Lakes course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club.
 
The Jekyll Island field is loaded with some of the top teams in Division III.  Top-ranked Methodist and 2nd ranked Oglethorpe are in the field along with 11 other teams ranked in the D3 top-25.  In addition, seven other schools, including Rochester, are receiving votes in the latest coaches' poll.
 
Tee times for Sunday's final round are slated to begin at 8 am.
