Emory Golf Posts Fifth And Final Blog From Scotland

From Emory University Athletics

This is the final entry of our journal for the Scotland trip, it was also our last day playing. Today, we got the privilege of playing the Royal Dornoch Championship course, not one but two times.

The course is currently ranked as the sixth best in the world and it was worth every penny we spent to play in this beautiful landscape. We were blessed once again with absolutely pristine weather that we have enjoyed these past few days, looks like the sun has finally risen in Scotland.  Pictures are being taken left and right from the sunrise to the sunset looking upon the beautiful ocean.  If only we had a connection they would be on social media in an instant.

Even at its most challenging, with the wind blowing hard, the place helps us find peace. As we look to place our ball in all the safe spots and hold onto our scores the best we can, we are happy because golf is what we know and there is nothing else we'd rather be doing in this very moment.

While we are all busy admiring the course, Connor is busy playing. The man made his way around the course with two impressive scores of 71 and 70 to win the overall.  Congratulations are in order.  While I do feel stung about the loss like any competitor, I know that was never the true purpose of this.  This trip was about us bonding together as a team while playing some of the best courses in the world in what can only be called the home of golf.  After all, we are a young team, and if we are to succeed this coming season we must get close -- support each other on and off the golf course and become friends.  Because there is no better way to win than when you have something to fight for. In that aspect I dare say the trip was a big success, and we hit some great golf shots on the side. It will be a long flight back home, but it will have been worth it.
