Emory Golf Checks In From Scotland

From Emory University Athletics

Stefano Butti, a rising sophomore on the Emory golf team, provided the Eagles' first blog from Scotland, detailing Thursday's events.

This was the beginning of our memorable journey to Scotland.  After a long flight, which featured a one-hour delay, we finally landed in Edinburgh International Airport at 11:33 local time.  We were all hungry and tired but that was overshadowed by the fact that we had reached our destination and now getting ready for some golf.

Fast forward a couple hours and we are on the tee at the Torrance golf course in St. Andrews, Our first Scottish golf experience!  Needless to say it did not disappoint. Noah, Tony and Csillag are on tee first, quickly followed by Connor, Keenan, Stefano and the man himself, Coach John Sjoberg.  We managed to make it almost 13 holes free of rain, but keep in mind the wind was a hazard in itself.  We are all mesmerized by the course and the view of the wide open ocean, but focused in the face of our friendly team competition. That's why when Stefano made a 30 footer on 18 to beat coach by 1 and shoot 78, the adrenaline was flowing. Still, it was Tony who stole the show. Relentless against the wind and water he manages to shoot 76 and take the early lead in the trip-long competition.

There is much golf left to be played, but this was a good start indeed.
