The Emory University golf team holds down sixth place out of 15 teams after the opening round of the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational.  The 36-hole tourney is being held at the 6,758-yard, par-72 Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome, Georgia.

With a lineup that includes three players who are playing in their first collegiate tournament, and another who is in the playing group for the initial time this year, the Eagles recorded a team score of 301.  No. 18-ranked LaGrange College lays claim to the top spot after firing a seven-under par 281, five shots better than Rhodes College.

Sophomore Noah Apter was the team's top performer on Monday, checking in with a career-best score of one-under par 71, good for a sixth-place tie out in the 94-player field.  Freshman Sam Galloway carded a one-over par 73, placing him on the leader board.  Junior Connor Yakubov recorded a 77 while freshman Timmy Davis rounded out the team's scorers with an 80. Freshman Leo Rich was part of the Emory contingent, ending up with an 80, while rookie Vraj Patel, competing as an individual, shot an 86.
