Emory Finishes Tenth At Chick-fil-A Invitational

The Emory University golf team closed out the fall portion of its 2016-17 schedule Tuesday afternoon at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational. The 36-hole tourney was held at the 6,758-yard, par-72 Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome, Georgia.

With a lineup that included three players who were playing in their first collegiate tournament, and another who was in the playing group for the initial time this year, the Eagles recorded a second-round score of 311 on Tuesday, giving them a two-day score of 612, good for 10th place out of 15 teams. No. 7 Rhodes College captured first place with a 571 (286-285), one shot better than No. 18 LaGrange (281-291).

For the second straight round, sophomore Noah Apter was Emory's top performer, carding an even-par 72 that left him with a tourney score of one-under par 143, good for fourth-place tie out of 94 players. Freshman Sam Galloway posted a three-over par 75 on the final day of action, and his final mark of four-over par 148 tied for 14th place.

Rounding out the team's scorers on Tuesday were sophomore Connor Yakubov with a 79 (77-79—156) and freshman Leo Rich with an 85 (85-85—170).  Freshman Tim Davis posted an 86 on Tuesday and ended with a score of 156.  Freshman Vraj Patel competed as an individual and recorded a score of 164 (86-78).  

LaGrange College's Osborn Theam set the pace for the field with a nine-under 135 (65-70).
