The No. 4-ranked Emory University golf team closed out its participation at its Discover DeKalb Spring Invitational on Sunday. The Eagles hosted the 36-hole tourney, which was played at the 6,510-yard, par-70 Smoke Rise Country Club in nearby Stone Mountain.

The Eagles posted a runner-up finish out of 15 teams, compiling a team score of 568 (291-277) over the two rounds, the program's second-best 36-hole total in program history. In addition, Emory established a school record with its Sunday team mark of 277. No. 1-ranked Huntingdon College took home first place for the second consecutive year, edging out Emory by one stroke with a 567 (289-278).  No. 6 Methodist was third (295-280—575) while No. 7 LaGrange (297-283) and No. 17 Berry College (292-288) tied for the No. 4 position at 580.

Sophomore Connor Yakubov had a round to remember, shooting a career-best 67 to finish the Invitational at 140, good for fifth place in the 87-player field and tying for third on the school's career chart for a 36-hole event. Yakubov's performance on Sunday, tied him with Jason Scherr for the Eagles' second-best all-time 18-hole score. Yakubov finished the day with four birdies and one bogey en route to his fourth round of par or better this season. Sophomore Stefano Butti and freshman Sam Galloway distinguished themselves by each carding one-under par 69. Butti tied for eighth on the leaderboard at 142 while Galloway tied for 12th with 143.
