The No. 12-ranked Emory University golf team came through with a fine opening-round performance at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Sunday. The 54-hole tourney is being held at the 6,717-yard, par-71 Raven Course at the Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort.

The Eagles are tied with Concordia University (TX) for fourth place out of 19 teams with a score of 289.  No. 10 UT-Tyler holds down first place after the first 18 holes, totaling a 285, while No. 7 Rhodes College is in second, just one shot off the pace.  No. 2-ranked Huntingdon stands third at 287.

Freshman Chuck Isgar (Los Angeles, CA) carded Emory's best score of the day with a three-under par 68 that stands fifth out of 95 players.  Isgar's effort represented the best score by an Emory player during the fall portion of the schedule and tied for the sixth on the program's all-time tournament list for 18 holes.  Junior Sean Murphy (Decatur, GA) was the next Eagle to appear on the leader board with his one over-par 72 tying for 15th place. Freshman Matt Organisak (Sudbury, MA) and junior Keenan Hickton (Pittsburgh, PA) rounded out the team's scorers with marks of 74 and 75, respectively. Sophomore Stefan Butti (Palm City, FL) shot a 78.

Posting the top score of the day was Connor O'Neil of Illinois Wesleyan with a five-under 66.
