The No. 12-ranked Emory University golf team came through with an outstanding final round on Tuesday at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational. The 54-hole tourney was held at the 6,717-yard, par-71 Raven Course at the Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort.
The Eagles posted a Tuesday score of 284, the best mark of the fall and tying the program's sixth-best team score, which gave the squad a 54-hole mark of 871 (289-298-284). No. 10 UT-Tyler took home first place with a two-over par 854 (285-278-291) while No. 7 Rhodes claimed runner-up status with an 868). No. 1-ranked Huntingdon and No. 5 Methodist deadlocked for the No. 4 spot at 875.
Emory's final score also represented the program's second-best mark for a 54-hole tourney.
Leading the Emory charge on Tuesday was freshman Matt Organisak (Sudbury, MA), who shot a season-best two-under par 69 that gave him a final score of 214 (74-71-69), tying him with teammate Chuck Isgar (68-71-75) for fifth-place in the 95-player field. Sophomore Stefano Butti carded a final round one-under par 70, which gave him a final total of 227. Rounding out the Emory scorers on Tuesday were junior Sean Murphy with a 73 and junior Keenan Hickton with a 72. Murphy finished with a 222 (72-77-73), tying for 31st on the leader board while Hickton finished at 227 (75-80-72).
Taking home medalist honors was Conner O'Neil of Illinois Wesleyan with an eight-under 205 (66-70-69).
