Emory Stands 12th After Two Rounds at NCAA D-III Championships

The No. 3-ranked Emory University golf team completed its second round of action at the NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles played on the 6,844 yard, par-72 El Campeon Course at the Mission Inn Resort located in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.

Emory ranks 12th on the team leaderboard with its Wednesday effort of 19-over par 307 giving it a 36-hole total of 610. No. 1-ranked Huntingdon paces the field at 584 (293-291) while No. 10 Wittenberg is in hot pursuit, just four shots back at 588 (298-290).

Sophomore Stefano Butti (Palm City, Fla.) and freshman Matt Organisak (Sudbury, MA) tied for the Eagles' top score of the day with each player shooting a three-over par 75. Butti stands at 149 through 36 holes, good for 19th position overall, while Organisak is one shot back.

Sophomore Connor Yakubovturned in his second straight 77, giving him a two-day mark of 154.  Junior Keenan Hickton rounded out the Emory's second-round scorers with an 80 while freshman Sam Galloway finished with an 81. Galloway has a mark of 158 after two days of play while Hickton is at 162.

Addison Lambeth of Huntingdon College leads all players with a 36-hole showing of 141 (69-72) while Guilford College's Josh Hill and Cameron Willis of Wittenberg right on his heels at 143.

Emory's 12th-place standing ensures that it will continue on in the Championships as the field was cut from 42 teams to 18.  The final two rounds of the event will be conducted on the El Campeon Course.
