Emory Ties For Sixth At Rhodes College Fall Classic

The Emory University golf team closed out the final round of action Monday at the season-opening Rhodes College Collegiate Fall Classic. The 36-hole event was held at the 7,125-yard, par-72 Tunica National Course in Tunica, Mississippi.  Serving as the host institution is Rhodes College.

The Eagles of head coach John Sjoberg wound up tied for sixth place with Berry College with both teams recording scores of 593. After shooting a 298 on Sunday, Emory posted a second-round score of 295.  Taking home the top spot was No. 16-ranked UT-Tyler with a two-over par 578 (290-288).  The Rhodes College 'B' Team claimed runner-up honors, finishing eight shots off the pace (295-291—586), while Centre College and Sewanee tied for third with scores of 588.

Junior Keenan Hickton (Pittsburgh, PA) led the Emory effort on Monday, carding an even-par 72 that gave him the team's best two-day performance of one-over par 145, good for a ninth-place tie out of 96 competitors. Sophomore Anthony Muscato (Gibsonia, PA) and freshman Matt Organisak (Sudbury, MA) each posted 74s, with Muscato finishing third on the squad and tied for 33rd on the overall leader board at 151, while Organisak tied with sophomore Connor Yakubov (79-75) for 48th place with a 154.  Junior Sean Murphy (Decatur, GA) shot an 81 and ended up tied for 25th place at 150.
