Emory Stands Fifth After Huntingdon Intercollegiate First Round

The No. 5-ranked Emory golf team completed its opening round action at the Huntingdon College Spring Intercollegiate on Monday. The 36-hole tourney is being played at the 6,979-yard, par-72 Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Eagles of head coach John Sjoberg hold down fifth place out of 15 teams with a first-day score of 11-over par 299. Huntingdon stands first after carding an impressive eight-under 280 while the Huntingdon "B" Team is second at 287.  Carnegie Mellon (291) and UT-Tyler (296) are third and fourth, respectively.

Freshman Sam Galloway came through with Emory's best score of the day, posting a one-over par 73 that ties for 10th place out of 81 players. Freshman Matt Organisak and junior Keenan Hickton each shot three-over par 75, tying for 23rd place. Sophomore Stefano Butti rounded out the team's scorers with a 76 while sophomore Connor Yakubov finished at 82.
