NYU Finishes Fourth at Lake Placid

NYU Finishes Fourth at Lake Placid

From NYU Athletics

The New York University men's golf team battled a troubling wind to finish in fourth place at the Middlebury/Lake Placid Invitational in upstate New York on Sunday, September 11.

The Violets shot a score of 323 on Sunday to total 635 over the weekend. Host Middlebury College captured the victory with a final score of 602.

"We played better today," said Head Coach Brad Johnson. "Our scores were higher today, but there were 20-30 mph, gusty winds. The winds were shifting and changing directions. Tough day in that sense. Hard to judge our play too much considering the conditions."

NYU's top finishers were ninth-place freshmen Matt Shen and Jensen Li (158 total each). Shen moved up the leaderboard by shooting 78 on the day, while Li carded an 81.

"Matt Shen did great today," Johnson stated. "He came back after a tough day yesterday and did a great job."

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Senior Eric Tarakijan finished in a tie for 13th place with a score of 159.

- Junior Bryce Holmes and freshman Kelly Sun finished with overall scores of 162.

- Justin Chan, competing as an individual, shot 81 on the day after shooting 91 on Saturday.
