NYU Finishes in Second at Manhattanville Invitational

The New York University men's golf team finished in second place following the second and final round of the Manhattanville Invitational on Saturday, October 8. The five-team competition took place at the Hampshire Country Club in Westchester, NY. 

After shooting a 309 on the day and 619 overall, NYU trailed champion Skidmore College by one stroke. 

Freshman Jensen Li followed up a first-round 78 with a one-over-par 73 on Saturday to finish in second place overall. He trailed Mitchell Campbell of Skidmore by two strokes for the individual title.

"I am very proud of our team for an incredible fall season," said Head Coach Brad Johnson. "We fell by one stroke this weekend, but this was a fantastic learning experience. Every stroke counts, and we will use this as motivation heading into the spring season."

Highlights:

- Freshman Matt Shen (78-76-154) finished in fourth place overall.

- Sophomore Luke Oberholtzer (76-81-157) and sophomore Qizhi Wong (78-80-158) finished in ninth and 11th-place, respectively.

- Senior captain Eric Tarakjian (78-83-161) was the fifth-best Violet on the weekend, finishing in 13th place.
