Rochester Leads St. John Fisher Invitational After Day One

The University of Rochester golf team sits in first place of six teams after the first day of competition at the St. John Fisher Invitational held at Timber Banks G.C.

Saturday's play featured 36-holes with the final 18 slated to be played at Beaver Meadows G.C. on Sunday.

The Yellowjackets carded an opening round of 307 and backed it up with a 308 in round two for a 36-hole opening day total of 615.  UR holds a slim two stroke lead over host St. John Fisher whose rounds of 307 and 310 put the Cardinals at 617 overall.  Oswego State is 3rd with a 647 total, St. John Fisher's 'B' team has a 648 with Nazareth (666) and Hobart (686) rounding out the field.

Overall Rochester had eight golfers competing in the event with freshman Jack Mulligan leading the way with rounds of 74 and 77.  He sits in third place overall with a 151 round through 36 holes.

Senior Daniel Luftspring is 4th overall after a 154.  Her shot an opening round of 76 and backed it up with a 78 in round two.  Juniors Corey Mitchener and Jason Paek sit in a tie for 5th with a two-round score of 155.  Mitchener carded rounds of 76 and 76 while Paek had a 78 and 77.

Junior Scott Chudacoff had rounds of 83 and 80 and sits in a tie for 15th with a 163 score, ending one stroke ahead of senior teammate Garrett Sweeney who had rounds of 83 and 81 for a 164 total. 

Luis Arteaga (82-84=166) sits in 21st place while Jay Lam (87-81=168) is in 24th after 36 holes.
