The University of Rochester golf team shot its best round of the 54-hole Jekyll Island Invitational on Sunday, but couldn't move up a stacked leaderboard and finished in 27th place.
Rochester carded a team score of 314 on Sunday and ended with a team total of 948 for the three-round event. 14th-ranked Greensboro took home the team crown with a 54-hole score of 875. #7 Oglethorpe, #1 Huntingdon and #10 Methodist finished four strokes back in a three-way tie for 2nd. Overall, 15 of the top-25 teams in Division III were in the loaded field at Jekyll Island.
The Yellowjackets were led by freshman Jack Mulligan who ended the tournament in a tie for 55th place after shooting a 4-over 76 in Sunday's final round. He finished with a three-day score of 227.
Junior Jason Paek finished in a tie for 103rd after finishing with a round of 78 on Sunday. He recorded a 54-hole total of 236. Senior Daniel Luftspring shot 81 in the final round and compiled a total score of 240 for the event, good for a tie for 114th.
Senior Jona Scott shot his best round on Sunday, carding a 79 (+7), but finished in a tie for 141st after a three-day score of 251. Junior teammate Corey Mitchener shot his third straight 83 on Sunday and ended in a tie for 136th (249).
