Tartans Compete in Day 1 of Gordin Collegiate Classic

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed on Sunday in the opening day of the two-day, 54-hole Gordin Collegiate Classic hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at the Deleware Golf Club in Deleware, Ohio. With 36 holes being played on Sunday, the Tartans carded rounds of 313 and 304 for a 617 and currently are in 11th.

Senior Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) led the Tartans on the par 71, 6,562-yard course. The senior opened with a 79 in the morning before carding a one-over par 72 in the afternoon round to shoot a 151 on Sunday. Freshman Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) sits three strokes behind Mohan with a 154 following rounds of 78 and 76. Classmate Trevor Arashiro (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani) fired rounds of 80 and 77 for a 157.

Freshman Derek Li (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) opened the day with a 76 and then shot an 83 in the afternoon to finish with a 159 while freshman Aryan Chordia (Dubai, UAE/Jumeriah College) ended with a 162 (83-79).
