Emory Ties For Fourth At Jekyll Island Invitational

The No. 6-ranked Emory University golf team completed its participation at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Sunday. The 54-hole tourney was played on the 6,700-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island.

The Eagles ended up tied with Southwestern University (Tex.) for fourth place out of 30 squads with both teams shooting scores of 870. Emory shot its second straight round of even par 288 on the final day of action. 

No. 5-ranked Methodist took home team honors, shooting a blazing 10-under par 278 on Sunday to finish at 853, 11 strokes ahead of runner-up Guilford College. No. 2 Huntingdon place third at 869 (300-287-282).

Emory sophomore Matt Organisak shot an even par 72 over his final 18 holes to post a tourney score of two-under 214, tying for 11th out of 150 players.  Junior Stefano Butti carded the team's top round of the afternoon with a one-under par 71 that left him with a final total of 218, tying for 20th among the leaders. Included in Butti's round was an eagle 3 on the 523-yard 7th hole. Rounding out the team's scorers were junior Connor Yakubov with an even par 72 and senior Keenan Hickton with a 73. Hickton tied for 31st after registering a 220 while Yakubov stood at 223, tying for 47th. Freshman Eric Yiu finished with an 81 on Sunday, closing out the Invitational at 232.

James Mishoe of Guilford played his way to medalist honors, finishing with a 10-under mark of 206 (67-70-69), two shots better than runner-up Lawrence Courtney of Kenyon College.
