The Emory University golf team closed out the 2017-18 season on Friday afternoon by finishing seventh at the NCAA Division III Championships. The final 18 holes of the Championships were contested on the 7,150-yard, par-72 East Course at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.

No. 4-ranked Emory shot a team score of 295 on the final day of competition to finish with a 72-hole score of 1180, which established a school record for the best mark at nationals, bettering the previous standard of 1187 set by the 2011 squad at the Grandover Resort. No. 1-ranked Methodist laid claim to the national title with its Friday performance of 296 giving the Monarchs a score of 1159, 11 shots better than runner-up Washington and Lee. UT Tyler captured third-place honors with an effort of 1171 while Concordia (TX) and Guilford rounded out the top five with scores of 1173 and 1174, respectively.

Junior Connor Yakubov came through with a memorable outing on the final day, pacing the Emory effort with a four-under par 68 (tying his second-best career score) that established a program record for low round at the NCAAs, bettering sophomore Matt Organisak's 69 that he shot on Tuesday. Yakubov ended the Championships as Emory's top performer at one-over par 289 (71-73-77-68), tying Jonathan Chen (2013) for the best score in school history at the Championships.  Organisak and senior Keenan Hickton were the next Emory scorers for the final round with each shooting three-over par 75. Junior Setfano Butti closed out the team's scoring effort with a 77 while freshman Eric Yiu posted an 80. Organisak ended up tied for the No. 18 position on the leaderboard at 293 (69-76-73-75), with that showing the program's fifth-best ever at the Championships. Butti finished at 302 (72-74-79-77), Yiu at 305 (71-77-77-80) and Hickton at 308 (81-76-76-75).

Logan Young of Concordia and Brian Peccie of Washington and Lee tied for first place at three-under 285, with Peccie eventually claiming medalist honors after prevailing in a three-hole playoff.

Senior Keenan Hickton closed out his four-year career with the Eagles on Friday (May 18) at the final round of the NCAA D-III Championships.
