Emory Eighth After Three Rounds At NCAA Championships

The Emory golf team closed out third-round play at the NCAA D-III Championships on Thursday, May 17. The Eagles competed on the 7,150-yard, par 72 East Course at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Emory finished with a team score of 303 on the third day of action and has a 54-hole score of 885, good for eighth place out of the remaining 18 teams still competing. No. 1-ranked Methodist will head into Friday's final round firmly entrenched in first place after shooting a six-under par 282, which leaves the Monarchs at one-under 863, 10 shots ahead of Washington and Lee who registered a 292.  Guilford College (876) and UT Tyler (879) round out the top five.

Sophomore Matt Organisak came through with the best round of the day for Emory, shooting a one-over par 73. Organisak fought off a triple and double bogey with three birdies on the front nine before posting three more birdies on the back. Organisak has a three-day score of two-over par 218, good for a 15th-place tie out of the 96 players still competing. Senior Keenan Hickton was the next Eagle scorer on Thursday with a four-over par 76, while junior Connor Yakubov and freshman Eric Yiu each recorded 77s. Junior Stefano Butti checked in with a 79. Yakubov stands at 221 after three rounds, placing him 28th while Butti and Yiu have shot 225.  Hickton has a 54-hole effort of 223.
