Emory Finishes Seventh At Tournament Town Preview

The No. 7-ranked Emory University golf team closed out its participation at the Tournament Town Preview on Monday. The 54-hole event was held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina, with the Eagles playing their final 18 holes on the 7,015-yard, par-72 East Course.

The Eagles posted a Monday score of 306 that gave them a three-round total of 889 (292-219-306), good for seventh place out of 18 teams. No. 1-ranked UT-Tyler played its way to first-place honors with an effort of 875 (281-289-305), three shots better than No. 3 Huntingdon (295-295-288) and No. 9 Illinois Wesleyan (285-292-301).   Huntingdon was the lone squad to reach par on Monday at 288.

Junior Connor Yakubov registered Emory's top score of the day with a three-over par 75 that left him with a team-best tourney mark of five-over par 221, good for a 15th-place tie out of 90 players. Freshman Eric Yiu was the next Emory player on the leader board, finishing tied for 23rd at seven-over par 223 (68-74-81). Senior Keenan Hickton, junior Stefano Butti and sophomore Matt Organisak rounded out the team's scoring efforts on the day with the trio all shooting 77s. Hickton wound up his three rounds at 226 (77-72-77), tying for 37th position, while Butti closed with a 227 (76-74-77), placing him in a tie for 42nd.  Organisak carded a 54-hole performance of 230 (73-80-77).

Zach Evens of Guilford College was the medalist with a fine score of one-under 215 (68-74-73).
