Emory Finishes Third At Wynlakes Intercollegiate

The No. 6-ranked Emory University golf team closed out its participation at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The 36-hole tourney was played at the 6,972-yard, par-72 Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Eagles finished third out of 16 teams, posting a second-round score of 302 that gave the squad a final total of 598. No. 19 Wittenberg used a final-day effort of 291 to capture the top spot with a mark of 590, four shots better than No. 2-ranked and host Huntingdon College (293-301). Rhodes College (308-300—608) placed fourth.

Emory junior Connor Yakubov registered the Eagles' best round of the day with an even-par 72 that gave him a two-day total of 150, tying for 16th place in the 88-player field. Classmate Stefano Butti finished with the squad's best 36-hole score, checking in at one-over par 145 (69-76) that ranked fifth on the leader board.  Sophomore Matt Organisak carded a 76 on Tuesday and finished at 148, which tied for 10th. Freshman Eric Yiu rounded out Emory's second-round scoring contingent with a 78 (77-78—155) while senior Keenan Hickton totaled a 158 (78-80) over two days of action. Junior Anthony Muscato, playing as an individual, shot a 156 (80-76).

Drew Mathers of Huntingdon claimed medalist honors with a two-under par 142 (70-72), one stroke better than Berry College's Henry Jones (74-69).
