NYU Fourth at Hershey Cup

From NYU Athletics

The New York University men's golf team opened play at the Hershey Cup, which is being hosted by the University of Rochester at the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, PA

NYU shot a 310 in the first round on Sunday and currently sits in fourth place among 15 teams.

"We played decent after a few weeks off, but we feel we can move up the leaderboard tomorrow," said Head Coach Brad Johnson.

Leading the way for the Violets in the opening round was Matt Shen, who shot a three-over par 74. Shen recorded two birdies on Sunday and currently sits tied for third place out of 84 golfers.

"Matt was steady today and that's the type of consistency we are looking from out of all of our golfers," added Johnson. "I'm excited to see if he can keep it going tomorrow and help us ascend up the team standings.

Also competing for the Violets were Kelly Sun (five-over-par 76), Robbie Keyes (eight-over-par 79), Luke Olberholtzer (nine-over-par 80), and Patrick McNary (12-over-par 83). Keyes and Oberholtzer each cupped one birdie in the opening round.
